Roden 319 - Boeing 720B Pan American
Boeing 720B: short-haul & medium-haul variant of the well-known Boeing 707 passenger aircraft, first flown in 1959. It differed from its predecessor with a shorter fuselage, a wing with greater sweep angle and new engineering. Series production lasted from 1960 to 1969, during this period 154 machines being built (65 units of Boeing 720 and 89 of the Boeing 720B). Late build Boeing 720B aircraft had more powerful JT3D engines in redesigned nacelles. Additionally, it featured minor changes to its passenger emergency evacuation system. Despite the expectations of its developers, the type did not have the same great success as the Boeing 707 and therefore production was brought to an end. Apart from the use of these aircraft in the USA, some were sold in Germany, Israel, Ethiopia, Ireland and Pakistan. In some of these countries their service continued until the early 1990s.
